Lisa Glover brightened sprits at this year’s sodden season ending SportTayside & Fife Championships on 16th September by capturing a National Junior record. During the days heavy rainfall the Fife AC athlete hurled the javelin out to achieve new record figures of 45.09m. It was a fantastic achievement for Glover who has a further two years in the Junior age-group. She can now go into winter training and her new start at university in Glasgow knowing that she is capable of achieving even more next season.
Elsewhere athletes finished their season in what were horrendous conditions for competitors and officials to endure. However, as always, the Officials provided a fantastic service to allow the meeting to go on and many athletes responded accordingly with 28 new meeting records being achieved on the sodden Caird Park Track. It was a positive end to the season for many as there were a raft of personal best performances as athletes from all over the region shared the prizes between them.
For many its now time to get ready for the mud of the cross country fields while others will retreat into winter training in the hope they can dry out their kit for the start of next year’s track season!
