Role of the Basketball Development Manager
The role of the Basketball Development Manager is to lead the development of basketball in Tayside & Fife with a key focus on Clubs, Coaches, Officials, Volunteers, Facilities and Players. A four year strategic plan for the sport was produced in 2006 which is being implemented through partnership working with basketballscotland, our Local Authority partners, clubs, schools and basketballtayside & fife, to ensure that the infrastructure of the sport develops. Basketball Development Manager
The current Basketball Development Manager is Chris Dodds, who has held the post since its inception in February 2006. He was previously the Tayside Development Officer, having moved to a career in Sports Development following jobs in the financial sector with Bank of Scotland and Scottish Equitable Plc.
A former National League player with Boroughmuir in Edinburgh, Chris has over 20 years of experience within basketball and is a qualified coach, referee and table official tutor for basketballscotland courses. He is also a FIBA International Referee and currently one of Britain’s top officials, officiating regularly in the British League and European competitions. Chris has also officiated at two World University Games (Turkey 2005 and Serbia 2009), and the XVIII Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia in 2006.
