Swimming in Tayside & Fife

On the 10th July 2006 Heather Albin took up the new post of Swimming Development Manager with SportTayside & Fife. Heather has been actively involved in the sport for over twenty years and worked as Swimming Development Officer for Dundee City Council since 2000, where she was responsible for the development of Aquatics Citywide.

To carry out her role as a local development officer effectively, Heather formed and was instrumental in developing working partnerships with key stakeholders. This in turn allowed the development and formation of the 2004 - 2008 Aquatics Strategy for Dundee to take place.

Heather has also been involved with the coaching of swimmers for over twenty years, and recently attended the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in a supporting role to one of her athletes.

Role of the Swimming Development Manager

Within her new role Heather will lead the development of swimming in Tayside & Fife with a key focus on Clubs, Coaches, Volunteers, Facilities and Athletes below the Area Institute of Sport level. A strategic plan for the sport will be produced and implemented through working closely with Scottish Swimming, Gary Vandermeulen (TFIS Performance Swimming Coach) and the local stakeholders to ensure that the infrastructure of the sport develops.
